What’s with the name Bonsai Massage & Bodywork?
Bonsai is the name of one of our cats. My husband and I also love to visit Japanese botanical gardens wherever we travel and I love the beauty and art of bonsai trees. I also see a connection with the art of bonsai and massage as both are about creating and holding space and appreciating the beauty of imbalance.
I’ve never had massage before, what can I expect?
When coming in for the first time, we will sit down and talk about what issues you have and what you want to achieve in your session. Are you nervous? Just let me know and I will answer any question you have about the session before, during or after. The goal is to make sure you feel comfortable and safe. The most important thing during a session is to know that you can communicate at any point to me, no matter what.
Do I have to undress completely to get a massage?
The short answer is no. Many clients choose to keep undergarments, tank tops or socks on. Whatever clothing you choose to keep on is OK and will serve as a barrier to me of what areas to avoid. And you will be draped under a sheet and a blanket the entire session; only the area I am working on will be undraped.
Am I supposed to tip you?
While tipping is up to the discretion of the client, I do not expect it. Really. Clients are treated with appreciation and respect regardless of a tip. The best tip you can give is a referral to family and friends, online reviews or social media likes!
Is it OK to fall asleep during a session?
Yes! Absolutely. Falling asleep means that your body is relaxing.
It’s all about no pain, no gain, right?
No. I do not adhere to the belief that the deeper the pressure, the better the massage. While I use a variety of techniques and pressure levels based on a client’s needs, I never want to cause a client or myself pain by using pressure that is too deep. Deep tissue massage refers to working deep within the muscle tissue, not the amount of pressure used.
What types of payments do you accept?
All major credit cards, checks and cash. I use Square to process credit card payments so your information is safe and secure.
What is your cancelation policy?
I ask that if you have to cancel your appointment you please call, email or text 48 hours ahead of time. I will charge a 100 percent of service fee for a cancelation with less than 48 hours notice. A no show or no call cancelation will then require prepayment of all future services.
New Clients, please contact me via text (630) 755-8850 or email bonsaibodywork@gmail.com for schedule availability and to be put on a waiting list.
